Third World Doesn’t look so Third World..

I realize there’s been this ..well I wouldn’t say craze, but interest in seeing what everyday people do, and especially wear on the streets. There are endless fashion sites that would have a street category showing what people in that particular city wears on a daily basis … but chances are the photos are always taken at fashion capitals such as NYC, London, Paris, Italy, Japan…. Even though it makes sense that fashion photos cluster around those places, I still have always wondered so what about the rest of the world? lol Well recently I’ve stumbled upon some random blog that is very similar to the Satorialist-prolly someone with a same photo hobby. This person is most likely base in Vietnam, likes to travel and is into fashion. Out of all of this, man fashion does travel indeed! I haven’t been back to Vietnam for awhile now, and I really wish I can so then I can see the changes that’s happening in my motherland. These pictures are a bit of a shocker to me. Not to make fun of my birth country, but if anything, I didn’t think people cared much about fashion in Vietnam and had a stereotypical vision of what citizens of Vietnam would look like hehe. Granted I don’t know if these people are travelers, or not but I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt. Most of these pictures are taken in Hanoi. The photos show a diversity in my opinion, compared to the Satorialist these days…or maybe he just upped his photography skills making everyone look like they’re models. But anyways, obviously the fashion sense is not 100% there but it’s getting somewhere. Honestly, they look better dressed than a lot of normal Asians in the west that I’ve seen… or at least put in some sort of effort in making a fashion statement. It’s just very interesting in a country where a lot are in poverty, fashion is still there somehow.
